QM everyone!
Today, we’re releasing a Mainnet-compatible devnet and tooling, all focused on upgrading tooling and products to be compatible with the changes being made in Golden Age Testnet!
Golden Age Compatible Devnet
Our team is releasing a semi-closed Golden Age devnet, accessible through a public RPC endpoint. This devnet is intended for developers to utilize for building and testing prior to the official launch of testnet.
The devnet will be running a 1x2 configuration (Cyprus Region, Zones Cyprus 1 and 2) all with Quai and Qi ledgers. It is not open for connections by external nodes and has no incentives or user-specific activities.
Quaiscan
A new release of Quaiscan is being launched alongside the devnet. This release has undergone major indexing, UI, and functionality upgrades. It also provides updated support for Golden Age devnet functionality, the Qi ledger, smart contract verification, and additional statistics and APIs.
Pelagus
A new Pelagus extension has been released on the chrome store, complete with clean UI updates and full support for Golden Age. Note: this extension will require you to create a new English seed phrase and new addresses. The new extension is not backwards compatible with previous network versions.
Quais
The Quais SDK has been completely overhauled and re-released, now with support for both Golden Age Quai and Qi ledgers. A ton of other changes and improvements have been made which can be found in the new SDK documentation.
Faucet
The testnet faucet has been re-designed and re-released to support Golden Age Quai token drips. Premium X verification requirements for drips have been added to boost sybil resistance, but there are still ways to acquire tokens without a verified account. Currently, the faucet is primarily for developers looking to build and test their applications prior to the official launch of the Golden Age Testnet. Any tokens acquired from the faucet during devnet will be reset at the official launch of testnet.
Local Network Runner
Our team is releasing a dockerized local Quai Network runner, complete with go-quai and quai-cpu-miner. This allows for a single command deployment of an entire local network configured specifically for local development. Developers using the local network will experience faster block times, throughput, and quicker finality, which is ideal for testing applications. The newest release of Pelagus also bundles the ability to detect and connect to this locally running network for use in the development process.
Other Developer Updates
- New documentation site, complete with API playground and updated guides
- Pre-release of Golden Age compatible node setup guide
- hardhat-example repo updated for golden age compatibility
It is important to note that many of these releases are not fully production ready and may still have bugs, especially for Qi related tooling. If you are a developer and encounter any bugs, please reach out to us via the Quai Network Developer Discord or the Ecosystem Telegram. If you’re a user testing out any of the tooling, please direct all support requests to the support messengers on any of our sites, or to our designated support site.
Our team is so excited for you to see and test out what we’ve been building. Onwards toward Golden Age Testnet!
